ANOTHER DAY AWAY

My husband set sail today
my friend started to say
to many tours this past few years
she began between each of her tears

he's gone more than he's home
a vegabond or gypsy, always on the roam
off one tour than gone again
when does the family life begin

its part of the job he'll always say
just another long work day
duty to country has taken him away
and God will keep him safe I pray

THOSE FEARS SURFACE AGAIN

Staying up late on those lonely nights
wondering if he is doing alright
he's gone away so the car won't start
which of course happens each time your apart

your expecting a call from him today
each Sunday its the same way
stay near the phone, dont go out the door
if you do thats when he'll call for sure

he'll phone some time today but you don't know when
the Ty line is down no call will come in
yet once again its time to be strong
as you sit and pray that nothings gone wrong

THE STORM OUTISDE

Theres a blizzard outside the window tonight
can't see a thing everything is white
the middle of winter and oh so cold
all the generators around are sold

the power is gone out once more
and your husbands heading out the door
the storm has caused damage everywhere
his unit and so many more are headed out there

propane stoves and oil lamps too
not alot but it will have to do
the wives are pairing up, staying together
once more a storm they all manage to weather

MILITARY SPOUSAL QUALIFICATIONS

You must be able to stand on your own two feet
constantly ready to smile and to greet
must be able to turn on a dime
always be accurate and on time

always be ready to watch me go away
never know how long i'll stay
love me with all your heart when im there
so when im gone you got lots of memories to share

be prepared for almost anything
always dread to hear the phone ring
to deal with this you will need to be
helplessly and hopelessly in love with me!
