PERSONAL TRIBUTES

TO THE ONLY GRANDAFTHER I KNEW

MY PRAYER FOR YOU

My poems are my words I share
the ramblings of feelings of dispair
the pouring out of my heart
not knowing where to start

My poems are the way I share
kind of like saying a silent prayer
the things I cannot say to you
not being quite sure what to do

My poem is meant for you this day
in hopes your pain will go away
its a gift that is rare and true
its love and peace my poem sends to you.

That poem was written in the last hours of his life as he lingered on with cancer.

MY NEIGHBOR AND FRIEND

CRAIG STONE

  CHILDHOOD FRIENDS

CRAIG

There was a boy that lived accross the street
a boy you will never get a chance to meet
we were born just hours apart
and were neigbours from the very start

We played together over the year
lots of laughter and some tears
we got in some mischief along the way
let me tell you what we done one day

We threw dirt in another mans well
at us rightfully he was mad, you could tell
we took communion before we could
even though we knew neither of us should

You think about the shared birthday
and not think it to end that way
he still had his life to live
at twenty-four still so much to give

MY GENEALOGY SALUTE

GRANDPARENTS

Ive had some grandparents from long ago
all of them which ill never know

Although ive researched documents from far and near
tracking the family that bought us to here

Ive found dates of birth for some of you
in some cases marriage records too

I have births from dorset, Devon, Brighton, and more
right from England to Newfoundlands shore

But ill never know your pain or your fears
or all the tears you shed through the years

Ill never know what makes your heart melt
or any of the joys that you felt

But all the papers ill ever find
wont tell me if you were warm and kind

I know there part  of you in me
thats the importance of the family tree

We are many generations apart
but youll never be far from my heart.

THE OLD FAMILY GRAVE

Although I never knew you
I miss you all the same
I visited your resting place
to say a few words to you

The saddness I felt standing there
looking down upon your grave
thinking of the life you led
and the family you held so dear

Your grave lies here long since cared for
your loved ones all with you up there
your descendants to young to recall your name
but still you watch down and love us all the same
